Form
Regular verbs: base + -ed (worked, lived, studied, stopped). Irregular verbs: special forms (go → went, have → had). The form is the same for all subjects.

Short answers: Yes, I did. · No, she didn't.
Use
- Finished actions in the past: I visited my grandmother last weekend.
- A series of past events: He got up, had breakfast and left.
- Past facts and states: She lived in Madrid in 2015.

like → liked · study → studied · stop → stopped · play → played
Common irregular verbs
see → saw · eat → ate · write → wrote · take → took · buy → bought · put → put · cut → cut
Watch out
- After did / didn't use the base verb:
She didn't went→ She didn't go.Did he finished?→ Did he finish? We goed→ We went.- Subject questions have no did: Who broke the window?

US vs UK
